Set it up in two steps
Your app starts the server through npx, so there is nothing to download by hand. All it needs is Node.js 20 or newer.

Create an API key
Sign in and generate a key under Dashboard → API Keys. The same key works for the API, Make and Zapier.

It is a free npm package, wiseocr-mcp, that connects WiseOCR to AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once it is added, you can ask your assistant to turn receipts and invoices into structured JSON or a CSV file.
Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and any other app that runs local MCP servers. The setup steps on this page cover each of them.
WiseOCR returns every line item and tax rate in the same fixed fields for every document, so the results from one receipt or a hundred line up in one table. It also reads files straight from your disk and saves a whole folder to a CSV file in a single step.
The server runs on your computer and sends each document to the WiseOCR API over HTTPS. Documents are processed only to produce the result, are not saved in our database and are never used to train AI models.
The package is free. Each page uses one credit from the same balance as the API, from $0.03 per page on the largest credit pack. Checking your remaining credits is free.
Yes. Give your assistant one or more folders and it processes up to 100 documents per call. The results go to a new CSV file with one row per document, or to a JSON file with every line item.
Photos and scans in JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or TIFF and PDFs, up to 4 MB each, plus .txt files and text pasted into the chat. Public links to images and PDFs work too.
